Basketball Showcase Success

Last Sunday, 14th November,  East Durham College successfully hosted their first ever National League 1 Basketball Game.
Durham Wildcats played the Coventry Crusaders in a League 1 clash, with Durham running out winners 86:65. Top scorer for Durham was Elderkin with 21 points.
The match was played at the stunning Prescott Sports Centre, at the College’s Peterlee Campus on Willerby Grove, which can seat 500 on its sliding bleachers.
Before the men’s game there was also a National League 2 Women’s National Trophy match played between the Durham Bobcats and last year’s defending champions the Stockport Lapwings. Durham recorded a storming victory 68:31.
Rose Fraser, Sports Development Officer at the College, said: “We were delighted with the feedback from the teams and supporters, everyone was very impressed with the facilities.”
